Carnival launches behind-the-scenes ship tour
By: Johanna JainchillJuly 23, 2009
Taking a cue from sister line Princess Cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines introduced a tour of the inner workings of a Carnival ship, called Behind the Fun.
The three-and-a-half-hour tour is a behind-the-scenes look at the line’s shipboard operations. Participants pay $95 to get access to ship areas that are normally off limits to passengers, such as the laundry room, galley, crew’s dining room, crew’s gym and training center.
The tour, limited to 16 passengers, is currently available on the Carnival Valor and Carnival Conquest. By the end of September, the tour will be rolled out to all 12 of the line’s ships that operate cruises of at least seven days.
Tour participants receive a number of take-home gifts, including a Behind the Fun baseball cap and lanyard, a book of photographs of Carnival ships and destinations taken by the line’s employees, and photos with the captain on the bridge.
The tour is very similar to the one Princess rolled out last September, the Ultimate Ship Tour.
